Much of my spring was spent trying to track down former MLB player and current Thoroughbred owner Jayson Werth. The fact that the horse racing newcomer won the 2024 Belmont at Saratoga with his horse Dornoch was enough to put him in the running for the cover subject of our 2025 Belmont issue; the fact that he returned to Saratoga for the regular racing season, even serving as a celebrity judge at last summer’s jockey karaoke fundraiser, made him target No. 1. The fact that he was just featured prominently on the Netflix series Race for the Crown was just icing on the cake.
